
Americans Edge Jacks 2-1 to Complete 3-0 Road Trip

ODESSA, Texas- The Allen Americans defeated the Odessa Jackalopes 2-1 Sunday afternoon to complete a very successful 3-0 weekend road trip. The Americans defeated the Laredo Bucks Friday night, before traveling to Odessa to win Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
Odessa opened the scoring 6:50 into the first period with a Todd Robinson goal from Mike Ramsay and Garrett Gruenke.
Dave Bonk tied the score at two 15:15 into the second period on a power play goal from David Nimmo and Judd Blackwater. While the Jackalopes outshot the Americans 12-6 in the period, Bonk's goal would stand up as the only goal of the frame.
Judd Blackwater scored to put the Americans ahead for good 7 minutes into the third period on another power play goal. The Americans were 2-8 on the power play, while the Jackalopes were held scoreless in 6 attempts with the man advantage.
Chris Whitley was outstanding in goal yet again for the Americans, stopping 33 of 34 shots from the home side.
The Americans are now alone in first place in the Berry Conference, and at 11-2-0, hold the best record in the Central Hockey League.
Allen will skate Thursday night in Tulsa against the Oilers, before returning home to face the Wichita Thunder Friday, November 19, and Odessa Saturday November 20.
The game on the 19th will feature an appearance by the famous Hanson Brothers from the film Slap Shot, as well as a free massage coupon for the first 2,500 fans in attendance, courtesy of Total Body Health.
When the Americans host the Jackalopes on the 20th, the first 1,500 fans will receive Americans logo flash drives, compliments of AT&T/LG.
