Odessa Jackalopes News Release

ODESSA, TX - Despite outplaying and outshooting the Allen Americans for the second straight night, the Odessa Jackalopes came up short again following a 2-1 final at the Ector County Coliseum on Sunday. The loss drops Odessa's winless streak to six games, going 0-5-1.

The final shot count was 34-26 favoring the Jacks, but Judd Blackwater connected on a one-timer from the right circle at 7:07 of the third period to net the game-winner for Allen. Blackwater's tally was a power play goal, on a two-man advantage, and part of a third period that saw five of seven penalties called against the Jackalopes.

The Jackalopes (2-8-1) jumped out a 1-0 lead with the only goal of the first period as Todd Robinson scored on a rebound in the slot at 6:50 for his fifth of the season. Mike Ramsay and Garrett Gruenke each assisted on Robinson's goal.

The Americans struck back in period two with a power play by Dave Bonk from the front of the net. Bonk's goal came with just under four minutes remaining in the period and was his second straight game with a power play goal for Allen.

Chris Whitley was the winning goaltender with a 33-save performance, while Odessa's Michel Robinson stopped 24 shots in the loss. It was Robinson's third appearance for Odessa since joining to team back in late October.

Allen continues their perch at the top of the CHL, improving to 11-2-0 on the year.

The Jackalopes continue their homestand on Tuesday when the Rio Grande Valley Killer Bees pay a visit. Game time is set for 7:05 PM CST. It will be the third meeting this season between the two clubs. The Bees have won both contests so far this season - one in regulation and the other in a 16-round shootout.

The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The team will begin its 14th season in the Permian Basin in October 2010. Season tickets, mini-plans, and single game tickets are available by calling (432) 552-PUCK or visiting jackalopes.org.
