Rochester, New York - The Rochester Americans defeated the Hamilton Bulldogs 2-0 at Blue Cross Arena on Monday afternoon. Evan Rankin scored the winner for Rochester and David Leggio stopped all 34 shots he faced for the shutout as the 'Dogs were blanked for the second-straight game.

The Americans opened the scoring at 6:33 of the opening frame on a power-play goal by Rankin. Brian Flynn brought the puck in on the left side and feathered a pass to Rankin in the slot who tapped the puck by Hamilton Bulldogs starting goaltender Cedrick Desjardins. After 20 minutes, the 'Dogs led the Amerks 15-8 in shots.

Rochester made it 2-0 on a goal by Mark Mancari at 11:15 of the middle frame. Mancari skated down the boards on the right side and took a shot from a sharp angle which squeaked over the shoulder of Desjardins and into the back of the net. After 40 minutes of play, the shots were all squared up at 22.

The third period was scoreless as the shots were 12-4 for the Bulldogs and they finished 34-26 for Hamilton. The 'Dogs have not scored a goal in 120 minutes and 30 seconds.

The Bulldogs' next game is against the Marlies in Toronto on Wednesday, January 2nd at 7:00 p.m. All 'Dogs games during the month of January will be broadcast on Hamilton's Funny 820 (AM 820), with select games simulcast on Montreal's TSN Radio 690 (AM 690).
