Grand Prairie 4, Shreveport-Bossier 3
Shreveport-Bossier jumped to an early 2-0 lead, but Grand Prairie came back to beat the Captains 4-3 in game two of a doubleheader at Fair Grounds Field. Jonathan Johnson and Brian Peterson each scored a run for Shreveport-Bossier in the first and second inning respectively, but Grand Prairie scored three runs of its own in the top of the third to take the lead. Both teams scored a run in the sixth inning, but the AirHogs narrowly edged the Captains. Grand Prairie registered 13 total hits in the game while Shreveport Bossier had eight. Right fielder Stephen Douglas led Grand Prairie with four hits and two runs in four at-bats, and first baseman Joey Gomes chipped in three hits. Lance Janke, now 6-3 on the season, earned the win by allowing six hits, two runs and striking out seven in five innings pitched.
Grand Prairie 12, Shreveport-Bossier 0
Grand Prairie registered 13 hits and held Shreveport-Bossier to just two, and the AirHogs beat the Captains 12-0 in game one of a doubleheader at Fair Grounds Field. Grand Prairie scored four runs in the second inning and two more in the third. In the fourth frame, left fielder David Thomas, catcher Chris McMurray and right fielder Stephen Douglas combined for four more RBI, and the AirHogs took a 10-0 lead against the Captains. In the fifth inning, Grand Prairie sealed the deal when it added two more runs. McMurray led Grand Prairie with three hits, two runs and two RBI in four at-bats, and third baseman Greg Porter chipped in two hits, two runs and one RBI in three at-bats. Bo Schultz earned the win by allowing two hits, no runs and striking out four in six innings pitched.
St. Paul 5, Sioux City 2
St. Paul scored runs in each of the first three frames to jump out to an early lead, and the Saints topped Sioux City 5-2 at Midway Stadium. St. Paul got on the board in the bottom of the first inning when designated hitter Ole Sheldon singled to left field and batted in center fielder Ryan Patterson. After the Saints scored more runs in both the second and third innings, Sioux City scored its only two runs of the game in the top of the fifth. St. Paul added one more run for good measure in the bottom of the frame, and the Saints cruised to victory. Third baseman Ronnie Bourquin led St. Paul with three hits, two RBI and one hit in four at-bats, and Patterson chipped in two hits and two runs in four at-bats. Robert Coe earned the win by allowing four hits, two runs and striking out three in five innings pitched.
Winnipeg 9, Fargo-Moorhead 6
Shortstop Price Kendall registered three hits, two RBI and two runs in five at-bats to help lead Winnipeg to a 9-6 win against Fargo-Moorhead at Shaw Park. Winnipeg got on the board in the bottom of the second inning when the Goldeyes scored five runs on five hits, but the RedHawks added four runs of their own in the top of the next frame. Winnipeg extended its lead in the fourth when third baseman Brian Myrow and left fielder Jon Weber combined for three RBI. Fargo-Moorhead scored two more runs in the eighth inning, but it wasn't enough to top the Goldeyes. In addition to Kendall's standout performance, Myrow chipped in two hits, two RBI and one run in three at-bats. Andrew Walker, now 10-4 on the season, earned the win by allowing six hits, four runs and striking out five in 5.2 innings pitched.
Kansas City 7, Sioux Falls 6
Sioux Falls jumped to an early 5-0 lead against Kansas City, but the T-Bones came back to top the Pheasants 7-6 at Community America Ballpark. After scoring three runs in the first and two in the second inning, Kansas City scored a run in the bottom of the frame. After four scoreless innings, Kansas City scored six runs on five hits in the seventh to take a two-run lead. Sioux Falls added a run in the top of the eighth, but it wasn't enough to top the T-Bones. Kansas City registered 10 hits in the game, while Sioux Falls had 11. Designated hitter Ray Sadler led Kansas City with three hits, three RBI and one run in three at-bats. T.J. Large, now 5-7 on the season, earned the win by allowing nine hits, five runs and striking out six in 7.1 innings pitched.
Amarillo 3, Wichita 2 (10 innings)
Second baseman Adam De La Garza got on base in the 10th inning when the Wichita second baseman made an error, and that was just enough to knock in the winning run for Amarillo in the Sox's 3-2 win against the Wingnuts at Lawrence Durmont Stadium. Amarillo scored two runs in the top of the third inning, but Wichita scored one in each of the sixth and seventh frames to tie the score. Third baseman Ron Fenwick led the Sox with two hits, one run and one RBI in four at-bats, while right fielder Tim Alberts chipped in one hit, one run and one RBI in four at-bats. Corey Bass, now 5-4 on the season, earned the win by allowing two hits, no runs and striking out one in two innings pitched.
Gary SouthShore 13, Lincoln 5
Gary SouthShore racked up 18 hits en route to a 13-5 win against Lincoln at U.S. Steel Yard Stadium. After two scoreless frames, Lincoln scored four runs in the third inning when shortstop Curt Smith hit a three-run homer and third baseman Brandon Jones followed with an RBI-single. Gary SouthShore scored four runs of its own in the bottom of the inning to tie the score. The RailCats scored three more in the fourth to take the lead, and they all but sealed the deal in the sixth when Brad Boyer, Rico Washington and Mike Rohde combined for four RBI. Lincoln scored another run in the top of the seventh, but it wasn't enough to top the RailCats. Center fielder Mike Massaro led Gary SouthShore with four hits, two runs and three RBI in four at-bats. Trent Lare, now 1-1 on the season, earned the win by allowing 11 hits, five runs and striking out four in 6.2 innings pitched.
Fort Worth 11, El Paso 4
Six different Cats recorded multiple hits against El Paso, and Fort Worth beat the Diablos 11-4 at LaGrave Field. After a scoreless first inning, El Paso scored first in the top of the second when Brian Joynt batted in Nelson Teilon, but Fort Worth scored three of its own in the bottom of the frame. El Paso scored in the third and again in the fourth, but the Cats took the lead in the bottom of the fourth framewhen they scored two runs on four hits. Fort Worth scored five more runs in the seventh inning and one in the eighth to seal the deal. Fort Worth registered 18 total hits in the game, and center fielder Clifton Thomas led the Cats with four hits, four RBI and one run in five at-bats. Phillip Bartleski, now 5-3 on the season, earned the win by allowing 10 hits and four runs in six innings pitched.
