St. Paul 10, Sioux City 9 (11 innings)

The Saints had 20 hits in their 10-9, extra-innings win over Sioux City on Tuesday. But none was bigger than Shane Costa's 11th-inning single that plated SS Jake Krause and gave St. Paul a well-deserved, come-from behind victory. The Explorers jumped out to a 9-1 lead after two innings. But a steady barrage of hits pushed the game into extras, where Costa took care of business. The walk off single was the third hit of the night for Costa, who was joined by three other Saints in the three-hit club. No one in the St. Paul dugout had as many hits, however, as Sioux City LF TJ Bohn or 2B Mike Murphy. Both went 4-for-5 with two RBI, while Bohn also scored twice. With the win by the Saints and the loss by Gary SouthShore to Lincoln, St. Paul takes a one game lead in the wild card standings.

Kansas City 4, Sioux Falls 0

T-Bones starting pitcher Reid Santos threw all nine innings for Kansas City, striking out more Sioux Falls hitters (6) than he allowed hits (4). The shutout victory brought Santos' ERA below five to 4.94. With little offense for Sioux Falls to speak of, Kansas City got hits from seven of its nine batters and scored four runs on eight hits. T-Bones LF Peter Barrows was the only Kansas City batter with more than one hit, going 2-for-3 with a run scored. The Pheasants' four hits came from only two batters, with DH Mark Shorey and 2B Rob Lind each picking up two hits.

Wichita 11, Amarillo 4

Wingnuts 1B Carlos Rivera hit a home run while CF Mitch Einertson bagged two doubles to power Wichita past Amarillo, 11-4. Rivera finished the game 2-for-3 with three runs and two RBI, and Einertson went 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBI. Starting Wingnuts pitcher Derek Blacksher earned his fifth win with the Wingnuts, going eight innings and allowing three runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. Amarillo DH Van Pope was responsible for a third of the Sox' nine hits, going 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI.

Winnipeg 13, Fargo-Moorhead 5

Four different Goldeyes batters homered, and Winnipeg put up 17 hits on the way to a 13-5 victory over Fargo-Moorhead. All four Goldeyes with round-trippers - 1B Brian Myrow, SS Wes Long, CF Fehlandt Lentini and LF Justin Bass - had multiple hits and combined to go 10-for-14 with seven runs and eight RBI. The RedHawks jumped on top, 2-0, early thanks to a two-run C.J. Retherford homer in the first. But after the Goldeyes' four-run second that put them on top, 5-2, Winnipeg led the rest of the way. Goldeyes starting pitcher Luis Villarreal earned the win, throwing seven and a third innings while allowing four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts.

Grand Prairie 8, Shreveport-Bossier 2

The AirHogs never trailed Shreveport-Bossier on Tuesday night, taking a 2-0 lead in the top of the first and riding to an 8-2 victory. Grand Prairie SS German Duran gave his club the early lead on the only homer of the game. It came in the contest's second at-bat. Duran finished the contest 2-for-4 with two runs and three RBI and brought his season average up to .344. Starting AirHogs pitcher John Brownell threw a complete game and - after allowing a run in each of the first two innings - shut out the Captains over the final seven to earn his 11th win of the year. Brownell struck out four Captains batters and allowed two runs on four hits.

Fort Worth 12, El Paso 3

Cats RF Marcos Rodriguez hit a two-run fourth-inning homer and crossed home plate three times to send his Fort Worth club to a 12-3 victory over El Paso. Rodriguez also batted in four runs to add one more big number to his 3-for-5 night. The Cats jumped out to an early lead, plating four runs in the second frame, among them a Rodriguez RBI single. El Paso DH Uriak Marquez registered three of the team's five hits and drove in a run, but it wasn't enough to keep the Diablos in the game. The Cats got a team effort from the pitching staff, with three hurlers tossing at least two innings and reliever Scott Vander Weg earning the win after striking out three batters and allowing only one hit in the fifth through seventh innings.

Lincoln 4, Gary SouthShore 3

The SaltDogs got two RBI each from 1B Phil Hawke and RF Jorge Cortes, never trailing in their 4-3 win over Gary SouthShore. Hawke and Cortes also each had two hits, while Hawke scored a run. The RailCats tied the score at two runs apiece in the bottom of the sixth inning, but Gary SouthShore couldn't get over the hump. Lincoln answered with a run in both the seventh and eighth innings to take the victory. RailCats CF Mike Massaro went 1-for-2 and walked twice, scoring two of Gary SouthShore's three runs.
