Sioux City 12, Shreveport-Bossier 8

Sioux City DH Jacob Cruz and 1B Kent Sakamoto homered as part of a 10-run second inning that propelled the Explorers to a 12-8 victory over Shreveport-Bossier. Cruz began the huge frame with his third homer of the season, and nine more hitters came to the plate before Sakamoto's shot plated the last of the 10 runs in the inning. In total, the frame saw 15 batters come to the plate, nine hits, and the replacement of Captains starter Aaron Cunningham after surrendering nine runs. In an attempt to claw back into the game, the Captains got a two-run homer from CF Jovanny Rosario and a bases-clearing double by 3B Andres Rodriguez, but never overcame the deficit.

St. Paul 15, Lincoln 14

In a wild back-and-forth affair, St. Paul scored in the bottom of the ninth on a bases loaded hit by pitch to tie the game and won in walk-off fashion when pinch runner Steve Mays scored on a wild pitch. The comeback erased an early 6-0 deficit and was part of the 15 run effort off of just 10 hits. In the win, DH Ole Sheldon launched two home runs, finished 3-for-3, and knocked in four runs, while CF Josh Burrus also tallied three hits and a home run. Despite the loss, the Lincoln offense amassed the more comprehensive offensive attack, totaling 22 hits and five separate multiple run innings. Each of the first five hitters in the Lincoln lineup tallied three hits, and seven of nine Saltdog starters had at least two hits. 2B Brandon Jones, who hit the Saltdogs' sole home run, 3B Juan Richardson, and DH Argelis Nunez combined to knock in 10 runs in the losing effort.

Wichita 6, Sioux Falls 5

Wichita erased a 4-1 deficit and relied on a strong performance from the bullpen to hold off Sioux Falls 6-5. The Pheasants had built an early lead on two-run rallies in each the third and fourth innings, but a two-run double by Wichita RF Jorge Cortes in the seventh pushed the Wingnuts into the lead for good. The Wingnuts added an insurance tally in the eighth, which proved vital when the Pheasants closed the deficit to one in with a run in the top of the ninth. Despite allowing that tally in the ninth, Wichita reliever Cephas Howard was part of a threesome of relievers that allowed just one run over the final 3.2 innings.

Grand Prairie 8, Fort Worth 2

The AirHogs pushed across seven runs in the first inning and rode an impressive complete game performance by starter Ryne Tacker to hammer Fort Worth 8-2. Grand Prairie used a balanced offensive attack and a big home run by DH Michael Holliman to put the game out of reach early. And the seven spot in the opening frame was all the support Tacker needed. The Grand Prairie hurler allowed just one earned run, struck out eight and scattered seven hits without a walk to earn his seventh win of the season.

El Paso 6, Pensacola 5

Pensacola took a one-run lead into the bottom of the ninth, but self-destructed and allowed two unearned runs to hand El Paso a 6-5 walk-off win. Down 6-5, Pensacola closer Seth Overbey hit El Paso 3B J.D. Reininger with the second pitch of the inning, and then committed a costly error to put runners on the corners with nobody out. El Paso LF Jonathan Reynoso then singled home the tying run before C Adam Deleo won the game with a second straight RBI single. The wild ninth gave the Diablos the lead for the first time since they jumped out to an early lead with a four-run first.
