The Lincoln Saltdogs got great pitching from starting pitcher Jarrett Gardner and another save from closer Chris Thompson to shutout St. Paul, 3-0, at home. Gardner scattered six hits while striking out five and walking none over eight shutout innings to notch the win and run his record to 10-4 on the season. Thompson took over in the ninth inning and struck out two on the way to his league-record tying 30th save. Lincoln RF Rafael Alvarez led the offensive effort, going 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored. C Shawn McGill and LF Gavin Dickey each had a hit and a RBI in helping Lincoln to the win.

Shreveport-Bossier 4, Fort Worth 0

@ Fort Worth, TX. Time: 2:27 Attendance: 3,851

Shreveport-Bossier starting pitcher Thad Markray allowed just four hits while striking out four and walking none in eight shutout innings en route to his fifth win of the season. Captains DH Jorge Alvarez led the way at the plate, going 1-for-4 with a home run, two runs scored and two RBI. LF Jose Torres and 2B Luis Guance each had a hit and a RBI in the win as well. Fort Worth starter Joel Kirsten allowed just one earned run on five hits in six innings, but was stuck with the loss.

El Paso 4, Pensacola 3

Trailing 2-0 entering the sixth inning, the El Paso Diablos rallied for three runs to take a 3-2 lead. After they relinquished that lead by allowing a run in the bottom of the frame, the Diablos struck back in the eighth inning. With two outs, LF Jonathan Reynoso reached on an error and then stole second. The next batter, 1B Juan Camacho, singled him home and gave El Paso a 4-3 win. Diablos reliever Chris Luera earned the win, his first of the season, while fellow reliever Mike Cervera picked up his seventh save.

Sioux City 14, Grand Prairie 4

The Sioux City Explorers fell behind 3-0 after two innings, but answered with a six-run third and never looked back en route to an easy win. Explorers LF Justin Nelson led the way at the plate, going 2-for-2 with a home run, three runs scored and four RBI. 1B Jason Colson also had a nice game, going 3-for-5 with a run scored and two RBI. Sioux City starting pitcher Ty Marotz was the beneficiary of the run support. He earned the win and improved to 5-9 on the season.

Wichita 10, Sioux Falls 7 (10 innings)

HR: WW-Kelly Hunt (19); SF-Patrick Reilly (6)

Trailing 7-5 entering the eighth inning, the Wichita Wingnuts were able to plate a pair of runs to tie the score at 7-7 and eventually force extra innings. In the 10th inning, the Wingnuts put the game away with three runs in the frame, helping them to their third-straight win and into second place in the North Division second-half standings. The top of the Wichita order did the bulk of the damage offensively. 2B Josh Horn, CF Nick Blasi, LF Greg Porter and DH Kelly Hunt all had multi-hit games. The quartet combined to go 10-for-20 with five runs scored and seven RBI. One of Kelly's hits was a home run, his 19th of the season.
