The Explorers avoided a sweep on Wednesday afternoon with a road win over the Saints at CHS Field. 1B Brock Kjeldgaard opened the scoring with an RBI double in the fourth, and came in on an RBI fielder's choice by 2B Ryan Court. The duo struck again in the sixth when Court drove in Kjeldgaard with a sacrifice fly. One more Explorers run scored in the ninth on an RBI fielder's choice from RF Michael Lang.
Kjeldgaard had a three-hit day to pace the Explorers, while Lang and C Matt Koch had two hits apiece.
For St. Paul, 1B Angelo Songco and 3B Joey Paciorek had two hits each.
RHP John Straka struck out six over seven innings to earn the win for Sioux City, and RHP Jose Flores shut the door for the save.
