Ameer Riley to Return to Pioneers

Wilkes-Barre, PA- The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers are pleased to announce that Ameer Riley, 6'1" 205lb. wide receiver/defensive back, will return for their 2005 season.

"Ameer is a consistent and steady player that plays the game with great tenacity," said Offensive Coordinator Terry Karg. "His physical style helps set the tempo for our team in the secondary. His speed and soft hands make him a threat on offense."

With the 2004 Pioneers, Riley had a total of 23 catches for 272 yards and 2 touchdowns. He also had 1 rushing touchdown and 1 touchdown from a kick off return. On defense, he 76 had tackles (50 unassisted), 5 interceptions for 63 yards and 1 touchdown.

Riley played collegiate football at Colgate where in 2001 he was selected to the All-Patriot League 1st team and was an All-American Honorable Mention. His senior year, Riley returned 15 kick offs averaging 21.5 yards a carry, 25 punt returns for 169 yards and 4 interceptions for 74 yards.

In high school, Riley was a football, basketball and track stand out while attending Norwood High School in Northfield, New Hampshire.
