Manchester Wolves News Release

MANCHESTER, NH (February 25,2005) The Manchester Wolves picked up WR/DB Takeshi Yoshida (5'9" 160lb) in the arenafootball2 league annual international draft. This was the third and largest international draft in the history of the league and all af2 teams participated via conference call.

"The international players in af2 made major strides in 2004, with some even moving on to the AFL," stated af2 President Jerry Kurz. Kurz added that, "the league is excited to draft even more international prospects in 2005."

This season, teams can expand their practice squads by two men to accommodate international prospects, as they did in 2004. A new rule change for 2005 allows af2 teams to add one player of international origin to their active roster each game.

"Bringing international players into the league is a great opportunity for everyone involved," said Manchester Wolves head coach, Ben Bennett.

Yoshida, who is from Shizuoka, Japan spent eight years playing football in that country. He played four years at Hosei University (1998-2001) and scouting reports consider Yoshida one of the best DBs in Japan. Internationally, American football continues to grow, of all the international players assigned to the league for the 2005 season, eighteen were from Japan. The af2 and the Manchester Wolves are dedicated to giving arena football added exposure around the world.
