Wichita, KS (December 19th) - The Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League, powered by Toyota, is excited to announce a partnership for Reality TV Night with KWCH 12 to bring a casting call for a future season of the Amazing Race to INTRUST Bank Arena during the Thunder's game on Friday, January 17th against the Quad City Mallards. Making an appearance during the casting call will be Mona Egender and Beth Bandimere, who are better known as the "Roller Derby Moms" during the show's 22nd season and finished in third place.
Couples will have roughly one minute to explain why they will be great for the show. Staff from KWCH 12 will ask them anything from why they should be on the Amazing Race to how they think being on the show will help or improve their relationship. Members from the KWCH 12 Eyewitness News Morning Team will be in attendance to greet the fans.
The Amazing Race pits 11 teams, each comprised of two members, against each other on a trek around the world for approximately 25 days. During the last season, contestants traveled to 10 countries on five continents and more than 30,000 miles. At every destination, each team must compete in a series of challenges, some mental and some physical, and only when the tasks are completed will they learn of their next location. Teams who are the farthest behind gradually are eliminated as the contest progresses, with the first team to arrive at the final destination winning $1 million.
The Roller Derby Moms, Mona and Beth, took third on this past season of the Amazing Race. The Arvada, Colorado natives will be in attendance during the game to meet and greet all the contestants.
Wichita will be back in action this week as the team heads to Arizona to face the Sundogs beginning Friday, December 20th at 7:05 p.m. The five-game road swing ends with a rematch against the Oilers on Friday, December 27th at 7:35 p.m.
Individual game tickets are on sale now. Season tickets and mini plans are still available. Don't delay, contact the Wichita Thunder Monday-Friday, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. at (316) 264-4625. Stay up-to-date on all the news this off-season by visiting www.wichitathunder.com.
