Amarillo Tops Shreveport to Earn Sixth Straight Victory

January 17, 2020 - North American Hockey League (NAHL) - Amarillo Bulls News Release

Shreveport, LA - A steady run of offensive pressure from the Amarillo Bulls would be enough to top the Shreveport Mudbugs 4-1 on Friday night, as the Bulls extend their winning streak to six consecutive games.

Amarillo wasted no time in silencing the Mudbugs crowd, as Ty Black scored his ninth of the season on a long wrist shot, just 1:28 into the game. With the period coming to a close, Jordan Venegoni beat the clock and the Mudbugs netminder with 1.2 seconds remaining in the frame for his 22nd tally of the season.

Shreveport would cut the Amarillo lead in half, when Sam Miller netted powerplay goal in the early goings of the second period. Just over seven minutes later, Aaron White would give the Bulls the 3-1 advantage when he sniped his sixth goal of the season into the back of the net.

Amarillo would extend their lead to a 4-1 advantage on an early third period goal by Devan Tongue, which came on the powerplay. The tally would be Tongue's 10th of the season and would solidify the 4-1 victory.

With the win, the Bulls are now 29-6-1-2 with 61 points and maintain the top spot in South Division standings.

The Bulls will take to the road on Saturday, January 18, to take on the Shreveport Mudbugs. Mark Shelley will broadcast the game from the Spicy Mike's Bar-B-Q Broadcast Booth, and the action will begin at 7:11PM CST on 107.1 Nash Icon and Hockey TV.
