NORTH BAY, Ont. - Mike Amadio paced the North Bay Battalion in scoring with 71 points from 24 goals and a team-leading 47 assists in 68 games in the 2014-15 Ontario Hockey League season.

Amadio amassed five points more than Nick Paul, who led the club in goals with 37 and added 29 assists for 66 points in 58 games, missing eight games while with the gold-medal-winning Canadian entry at the World Junior Championship.

Amadio and Paul were instrumental in North Bay posting a won-lost-extended record of 37-20-11 for 85 points, tied with the Barrie Colts atop the Central Division but finishing second in the division and third in the Eastern Conference because Barrie had more wins.

Defenceman Brenden Miller was third in team scoring with 19 goals and 36 assists for 55 points in 65 games, while rearguard Kyle Wood followed with 40 points from 16 goals and 24 assists in 67 games. Alex Henriksson provided 20 goals and 19 assists for 39 points in 68 games.

North Bay was credited with 237 goals, tied for the ninth-highest total in the league with the Guelph Storm. The Battalion was charged with 195 goals against, second-lowest total in the league to that of the Oshawa Generals.

Paul led the team with nine power-play goals, one more than Amadio. Ryan Kujawinski had seven after joining the Troops in a trade Jan. 5.

North Bay scored 63 power-play goals in 282 opportunities for an effectiveness rate of 22.3 percent, seventh in the OHL. The Erie Otters boasted the top-ranked power play at 31.2 percent.

Amadio scored three shorthanded goals to lead the team. The Battalion had a total of eight shorthanded goals while allowing 47 power-play goals on 270 chances for a kill rate of 82.6 percent, third in the league. Oshawa had the top-rated penalty killers at 85.7 percent.

Miller led the team in penalty minutes with 91, while Mike Baird was second at 81. The Troops ranked 19th in the league in penalties at 10.9 minutes per game, ahead of only the Ottawa 67's at 10.3. Barrie was the most penalized team at 17.0 minutes a game.

Amadio, Henriksson, Marcus McIvor and Brett McKenzie played the full 68-game schedule.

In 56 appearances, goaltender Jake Smith posted a 28-18-10 record with a 2.78 goals-against average, an .896 save percentage and four shutouts. Jake Kment was 6-0-0 in eight appearances with a 2.14 GAA, a .910 save percentage and one shutout.

The Battalion registered seven shutouts, second-highest total in franchise history. Evan Cormier, who was dealt to the Saginaw Spirit on Jan. 4 in the trade that landed Nick Moutrey in North Bay, had two shutouts in eight appearances.

The Troops, then based in Brampton, recorded eight blankings in 2008-09. Thomas McCollum had four and Brandon Foote and Patrick Killeen two apiece.

North Bay went 20-9-5 at home and 17-11-6 on the road. The Battalion, 30-11-5 within the conference, was 19-5-2 within the division and 11-6-3 against the East Division. In going 7-9-6 against the Western Conference, the Troops were 3-2-5 against the Midwest Division and 4-7-1 against West Division opponents.

Stan Butler finished the season credited with 613 career OHL coaching wins, three more than George Burnett of the Belleville Bulls, who was overtaken this season. In 1,288 games over 19 OHL campaigns, including two with Oshawa and 19 with the Battalion, made up of 15 in Brampton and two in North Bay, Butler has a won-lost-tied record of 613-610-52.

The longest-tenured coach in the OHL, Butler, who ranks fourth all-time in games and wins, leads in victories among active coaches. Brian Kilrea, the legendary Ottawa bench boss, holds the record with 1,194 wins, followed by the late Bert Templeton with 907 and Larry Mavety with 681.
