
Alouettes Welcome Receiver Chris Matthews

Montréal, August 30, 2019 - The Montreal Alouettes announced on Friday having agreed to terms with American receiver Chris Matthews.
Matthews (6'5'', 230 lbs.) played in six games for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers this season, hauling in 12 passes for 180 yards and a touchdown. Matthews originally broke into the CFL in the blue and gold, in 2012, and was named the CFL's Most Outstanding Rookie that year after the 29-year-old amassed 81 catches, 1,192 yards and seven touchdowns in 18 games.
Matthews remained with Winnipeg in 2013 and then headed to the NFL where he played for the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens from 2014 to 2017. At Super Bowl XLIX, he made four receptions for 109 yards and one touchdown as a Seahawk.
The native of Long Beach, CA joined the Calgary Stampeders late in 2018, starting the final four regular season games, the Western Final and the Grey Cup, while recording 19 catches for 350 yards and a major score before winning the Grey Cup.
