Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal, September 24, 2013 - The Montreal Alouettes spent their Tuesday afternoon in three Montreal-area hospitals during the team's annual hospital visits.
Divided into three groups, the Alouettes were also joined by team cheerleaders in bringing smiles to children's faces at the CHU Sainte-Justine, the Montreal Children's Hospital and the Shriners Hospital for Children. The players also took the opportunity to meet with the children's parents.
"To come and see these kids along with their families during these tough times really puts things into perspective," said Alouettes linebacker Marc-Olivier Brouillette. "I'm truly proud to have participated in this important initiative and it means a lot to have joined my teammates and coaches in support of these sick children and their families."
In addition to passing on words of encouragement to the families, the Alouettes also met with over 200 children individually to hand out gifts, take photos and sign autographs while creating special memories for everyone involved.
"It's great to see our players and the entire coaching staff come together and comfort these children and their parents during these most difficult times," explained Alouettes C.O.O., Mark Weightman. "These visits are among the most important and impactful initiatives our team is a part of each year."
Making a difference in the community continues to be a priority for the Montreal Alouettes' organization. The team is also involved in education curriculums with its Together at School with CN and the Alouettes program which has a mandate of helping students achieve success in the classroom, on the playing field, and in life.
