
Allen Americans Suffer Denver Cutthroats Ninth Consecutive Win

Denver - The Denver Cutthroats hosted the Allen Americans for the team's final home game of the 2013-14 regular season at the Denver Coliseum on Sunday, March 16. The Cutthroats defeated the Americans 4-3 to pull them within two points of the Central Hockey League's leading Mavericks.
Sean Zimmerman (T.J. Fox, Vincent Arseneau) found an open spot in the slot to give the Denver Cutthroats a 1-0 lead in the opening frame. It wasn't until the second period, that the Allen Americans Spencer Asuchak (Greger Hanson, Jamie Schaafsma) tied the score at one.
Denver's Lee Moffie (Matt Glasser, Robin Soudek) scored his third goal of the season to reclaim the Cutthroats lead 2-1. Daniel Barczuk (Troy Schwab, Phil Tesoriero) lit up the red light to extend Denver's lead with the team's third goal of the night. Allen's Greger Hanson (Brian McMillin, Schaafsma) capitalized on a power play to cut the deficit to one. The Americans added an extra attacker to assist Greger Hanson (Asuchak, Alex Lavoie) in sending the game into overtime with less than a minute remaining.
After five minutes without a goal, the Cutthroats were sent into their second shootout of the weekend. In the seventh round, Cam Reid sealed the Denver Cutthroats 4-3 victory over the Allen Americans. The win on Sunday night marked the Cutthroats 22nd victory at home in the 2013-14 regular season and a 35-15-10 overall record.
The Denver Cutthroats will wrap up the 2013-14 regular season on the road. The Cutthroats will head to Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley, Arizona to take on the Arizona Sundogs for a three-game series on Wednesday, March 19, Friday, March 21 and Saturday, March 22.
