Sundogs Keep Chill on Ice with 5-1 Win

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs won Saturday night against the St. Charles Chill winning 5-1 at Tim's Toyota Center. Arizona swept the weekend set and the season series against the Chill. Shawn Limpright tallied a hat trick, posting three goals and inching him closer to a career record, 200 goals.

David Rutherford kicked off the scoring for the Sundogs when he found the net 6:35 into the opening frame with assists from Brandon Coccimiglio and Kevin Baker. The Sundogs came alive in the second registering three goals securing their lead going into the final period. Coccimiglio tallied the game winning goal 5:43 into the second from Matt McCready and Rutherford. Seven minutes later Limpright put up his, first of three goals. Jason Morgan and McCready each received the assists. Four minutes later, Limpright struck again and this time from Bryan Cameron and Mark Isherwood.

Chill finally solved Sundogs' netminder Andrew Engelage 5:36 into the third period. Travis Ouellette scored while on a 5-on-4 with the extra attacker after a scrum broke out between Johan Ryd and Mike Kavanagh sending them both to the penalty box for roughing. Limpright finished the night scoring his third goal for the hat trick with 6:11 remaining in regulation from Morgan and McCready. Limpright's third goal came while on the man-advantage, after Martin Hlinka was assessed two minutes for slashing. Arizona received a 5-on-3 power play after Hlinka was penalized again, this time for hooking and Chill's head coach, Jamie Rivers was given two for abuse of an official, however Arizona was unable to convert the advantage.

Engelage remained strong in net making 26 saves on 27 shots. Arizona outshot St. Charles 48-27. The Sundogs were 1-6 on the power play and the Chill were 0-5. The Sundogs have moved into the seventh playoff spot and are only three points behind the Brampton Beast and the Quad City Mallards. The Sundogs are back at it next week for a three-game series against the Denver Cutthroats.
