BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Kolby Allard struck out 11 Barons over six shutout innings to improve to 2-1 on the season and lead the Mississippi Braves to a 3-0 victory in game two of a five game series.

Allard surrendered three singles to Eddy Alvarez but completely shut down the rest of the Barons lineup. The lefty had at least one strikeout in every inning that he pitched and left the game with a 3-0 lead in hand.

Barons' starter Michael Kopech cruised through the first four innings, giving up just two hits and striking out five. Kopech ran into trouble in the fifth inning, when he hit two batters in the inning to put runners on base. Following an Alvarez throwing error, Luis Valenzuela touched up Kopech for a two run home run, his first of the season to provide Allard and Wes Parsons all the run support they would need.

Kopech ended his outing pitching six innings, while surrendering four hits, three runs and striking out eight for a quality start. Allard walked none in his six shutout innings to get the victory. Parsons pitched the final three innings out of the bullpen to secure a save for the Braves.

The Barons return to the field on Friday Night at 7:05 p.m. in game three against Mississippi. LHP Jordan Guerrero (0-4, 7.01) is scheduled to get the ball for Birmingham while Matt Withrow (1-0, 2.08) will be on the bump for the Braves. Curt Bloom will bring you all the action on WERC 105.5 FM and the iHeart Radio app, beginning with the Coca-Cola Pregame Show beginning at 6:55 p.m. CT.
