May 15, 2008 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release
The Toledo Mud Hens announced that All-Star pitcher Dontrelle Willis is scheduled to make a rehab start Saturday, May 17th, at Cooper Stadium vs. the Clippers at 7:05 PM.
The southpaw was the National League's Rookie of the Year in 2003, while pitching for the Florida Marlins. He posted 22 wins in 2005 and finished second in the NL Cy Young Award balloting. He was an All-Star both seasons.
During the Baseball Winter Meetings, in December, Detroit acquired third baseman Miguel Cabrera and Willis from Florida in exchange for six players, headlined by lefty Andrew Miller and outfielder Cameron Maybin.
Willis was placed on the 15-day Disabled List on Apr 12, with a hyperextended right knee.
The 26-year-old Detroit Tiger will join an illustrious list of former Major League All-Stars which Clippers fans have seen pitch at The Coop over the years. The list includes such notables as Curt Schilling, Mike Mussina, Kevin Brown, Hideo Nomo, Dwight Gooden, Ron Guidry, Steve Howe, Sid Fernandez and Rick Reuschel.
