FORT MILL, S.C. - May 15, 2008 - After losing by 12 runs in their previous game, the Charlotte Knights desperately needed a win. They got just that as they rallied to beat the visiting Syracuse Chiefs 6-5 at Knights Stadium.
Outfielder Dewayne Wise knocked in Jerry Owens for the winning run after Owens reached base on an error and moved to second on a groundout. The Knights tied things up earlier in the game with a two run homer from Brad Eldred. For Eldred, it was his 13th home run of the year.
The Knights were down 5-1 after five innings and got back into it with a two run home run from Thomas Collaro. It was Collaro's second home run of the night and his fourth in his last three games.
The Knights Jason Childers pitched two innings of perfect baseball to earn the victory. It Childers first win of the season.
The Knights and Chiefs conclude their four game series tomorrow at Knights Stadium at 7:15 pm. LHP Wes Whisler (5-1, 2.38 ERA) will go for Charlotte and LHP Bill Murphy (3-1, 2.81 ERA) starts for Syracuse.
