San Angelo Saints News Release
SAN ANGELO â The Dodge CHL All-Star Game is set for tomorrow in Albuquerque at 7:30 p.m. (MST) and for the first time ever, San Angelo has three representatives at the game including their first starting player since 1998-99. Prior to tomorrow night's game will be the Comcast All-Star Skills Competition with all three Saints players participating in various events for the Southern Conference All-Stars.
Forward Chris Minard is compete in the Accuracy Shoot contest, which consists of players shooting at targets positioned in the four corners of the goal from 25-feet away. Defenseman Derek Booth will compete in the Breakaway Relay contest, which features 5 players from each team taking breakaway shots against goalies from the opposing conference in a timed event. Goaltender Scott Reid will compete in both the Breakaway Relay and the Rapid Fire contests facing shooters from the Northern Conference All-Stars in each event. The Skills Competition starts at 6 p.m. (MST).
Minard enters the All-Star Game as the Saints' leading scorer with 44 points (18G, 26A) and is currently tied for 12th in the CHL in scoring. Booth is 2nd is tied for 13th among CHL defensemen with 19 points (6G, 13A). He is also tied for 2nd among CHL defensemen in game-winning goals and tied for 4th in shooting percentage. The All-Star Game will be the first action for Reid in almost three weeks. He has been nursing a groin injury, but is back to full strength and expected to start in goal for the Saints this weekend. Despite missing 4 games with the injury, Reid is 4th in the CHL in wins (17), 4th in saves (843) and 4th in save percentage (.926).
