Toledo Mud Hens News Release
Managers Larry Parrish and Mike Jirschele announced their starting lineups for the 2006 ProMedica Health System Triple-A All-Star Game to be held tonight at Fifth Third Field.
The 2005 Baseball America Manager Of The Year, Parrish, tabbed Charlotte Knights RHP Charlie Haeger as the starter for the International League. The 6'1, 200 pound native of Plymouth, MI is 10-2 with a stingy 1.95 ERA and 92 strikeouts on the year. At the break, Haeger's 1.95 ERA is good for third in the IL, but second among active pitchers. He is second to fellow Knight and Triple-A All-Star LHP Heath Phillips.
Toledo's own OF Ryan Ludwick will get the start in right field and bat in the seventh spot. Four Charlotte Knights round out the starting squad.
The International League will not have an easy go at it, as Jirschele will send the PCL's best, LHP Rich Hill to the mound. Hill is leading the PCL in ERA with 1.81 and has a 6-1 record. The Iowa Cub is tied for second in the PCL in strikeouts with 107 at the break.
Tony Gwynn Jr. will be featured in the leadoff spot for the PCL. Former Mud Hen and current Sacramento River Cats RHP Matt Roney should see time out of the bullpen.
