All six Silvertips come back with medals

In the gold medal game of the 2005 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Lethbridge, Alberta Team Western defeated Team Pacific 3-1 despite a fantastic 40 save performance by Silvertips netminder Leland Irving in a losing effort last night. With the win Brennan Zasitko and Zach Sim of Team Western win gold medals while Zach Hamill, Brady Calla and Leland Irving take home the silver.

Earlier in the day Jonathan Harty of Team Atlantic tallied 2 assists to help Team Atlantic to a 5-4 win over Team Ontario in the bronze medal game. In total, all six Silvertips that participated in the international event will come back to Everett with medals.

For Team Western Brennan Zasitko (1 goal, 4 assists) ended the event with 5 points in 6 games while defenseman Zach Sim played very solid defensively for his club in all 6 games. For Team Pacific goaltender Leland Irving was very solid posting a 1.77 Goals Against Average (2nd) and a Save Percentage of .942 (1st) in 6 games. Brady Calla (2 goals, 4 assists) ended the tournament with 6 points in 6 games and Zach Hamill (2 goals, 3 assists) added 5 points in 6 games played. Jonathan Harty (6 assists) of Team Atlantic posted 6 points in 6 games and led Team Atlantic in defensive scoring.

All six players along with Ivan Baranka will be back in action with the Silvertips on Friday night when the Everett Silvertips battle the Spokane Chiefs at the Everett Events Center. Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. For tickets for all Silvertips home games, log onto www.everettsilvertips.com.
