All Eyes on Canton...It's Time for Charge Basketball

Plugged in and revved up, Canton is ready for Charge basketball! The NBA Development League CANTON CHARGE, powered by the Cleveland Cavaliers, will make their home court debut on Friday, November 25th at 7:30 p.m. at the Canton Memorial Civic Center!

The stage is set for a grand opening night that will give the hometown crowd the BEST fan experience in the NBA D-League in front of a local, national and international TV audience. Under the leadership of head coach Alex Jensen, the Charge will officially tip off the 2011-12 inaugural season against the NBA D-League defending champion Iowa Energy as a new era in Canton sports begins.

In a special broadcast, the Charge's inaugural home opener will be televised live on FOX Sports Ohio's alternate channels* and simulcast nationally and internationally on NBA TV at 7:30 p.m. FSO play-by-play voice of the Cavs Fred McLeod will team up with Cavs Legend and game analyst Austin Carr to call the game. In addition, fans can watch a free live web stream of all Charge games during the season on NBA FUTURECAST at nba.com/futurecast. "This has been a relatively short, but very exciting and rewarding journey to arrive at tipoff time for Charge basketball in Canton," said Scott Woodruff, Charge chief operating officer. "An entire community has come together, worked hard and helped create something we're all going to be very proud of. Opening night is just the start of a season full of fun and excitement. It's going to be electrifying inside the Civic Center on Friday night and a very special night in local sports history for certain."

Everyone in attendance will receive a 2011-12 Canton Charge inaugural season magnet schedule presented by McCain Foods. The commemorative schedule is sure to be a piece of local sports memorabilia for collectors.

The Charge's opening night will feature the Cavaliers-inspired spirit of fun that families will enjoy throughout the season. The evening will include performances from the Cavaliers' award-winning game entertainment groups the Cavalier Girls, hip hop troupe the Scream Team and mascot Moondog. Holding court as they will for every game this season will be popular Cavs in-arena host Ahmaad Crump along with mascot Sir C.C.

A special halftime act will feature a Cavs and NBA favorite, Red Panda Acrobat - the incredible Krystal Niu. Riding a seven-foot unicycle, Niu kicks several bowls at a time into the air, landing them in an ever-growing stack on her head. She holds the Guinness World Record for this act that leaves audiences breathless every time!

After the final buzzer, kids (18 and under) can make their way to the Charge court for postgame free throws - something they can look forward to after all Charge weekend home games (on Friday, Saturday and Sunday).
