Alex Lavoie Wins CHL Award

Moline, Illinois - The Allen Americans and the Central Hockey League announced today that Allen Americans rookie forward Alex Lavoie, has been named the CHL Rookie of the Month for January 2014.

Lavoie is in his first full season with Allen, and leads all rookies in scoring with 54 points (20 goals and 34 assists.) Tulsa's Adam Pleskach is second on the rookie list with 41 points, 13 behind Lavoie.

"This is a great honor," said Lavoie when hearing of the award. "While winning this is special, we are here to win a Championship and that is our goal. I'm lucky enough to be playing with two great players on our line and surrounded by some great teammates."

Alex Lavoie had 14 points in the month of January; in 11 games he had 6 goals and 8 assists. Alex leads the Americans in goals with 20 and in points with 54.

The Americans were scheduled to play the Missouri Mavericks tonight in Independence, Missouri, but that game was postponed yesterday due to a winter storm in the metro Kansas City area. The Americans will be back in action tomorrow night against the Quad City Mallards at 7:05 pm. Listen to the game online at www.allenamericans.com .
