Engelage and Rutherford Earn January Oakley Stars

GLENDALE, AZ (February 4, 2014) - Arizona Sundogs goaltender Andrew Engelage, Brampton Beast forward Scott Howes and Arizona Sundogs forward David Rutherford have all been named the "Oakley Three Stars" for the month of January/2014.

Players are awarded five points for being a game's first star, three points for being named the second star and a single point for being named the third star of the game. Keep up with the season-long standings and quest to be the Oakley Three Star Player of the Year at www.centralhockeyleague.com.

First Star - Andrew Engelage, G, Arizona Sundogs Engelage earned 20 points in the month earning three first star honors, one second star and two third star nods. The goalie tied a CHL record with three straight shutouts and saw his scoreless minute streak climb to the second longest in CHL history (227:22).

Second Star - Scott Howes, F, Brampton Beast Howes also earned three first star honors in January to go along with one second star and one third star for 19 points. The sniper finished the month with 11 goals in nine games and was a +10.

Third Star - David Rutherford, F, Arizona Sundogs Rutherford joined the Sundogs on New Year's Eve and has been a catalyst for the club ever since. In January, the forward earned two first star honors, two second star nods and claimed two third stars for 18 points. Rutherford finished the month with seven goals and 11 assists.
