Aleric Clark join Destroyers

(BUFFALO, NY) - Buffalo Destroyers head coach and general manager Ray Bentley announced the signing of WR/DB Aleric Clark to a one-year contract this afternoon. Clark was brought in for a tryout last week and quickly impressed Bentley and his staff.

"Al came in on a two-day waiver and was outstanding in terms of speed and quickness," said Bentley. "He picked up our schemes really quick so we wanted to give him a chance."

Clark played four seasons at Texas A&M Kingsville playing wide receiver and defensive back as well as helping the Javelinas to the schools 23rd conference championship in 2001. He was second team All Lone Star conference both is junior and senior seasons and won the league's Special Teams Player of the Year award both years. Clark tied for fourth in the conference with four interceptions last season.

"I think I can make a difference on this team," Clark said. "I'm new to the arena game and have learned everything quickly. I can be a good asset."

The Destroyers also announced they have put WR/DB Jarrail Jackson on injured reserve. Jackson, a rookie from Oklahoma, caught two touchdowns passes and returned a kick off for a touchdown in the Destroyers pre-season game at Detroit on March 30.

The Destroyers get their final pre-season tune-up Thursday as they host the ArenaBowl XV champion Grand Rapids Rampage at 7:30 PM at the HSBC Arena.

The Destroyers open the 2002 campaign next Friday, April 19 welcoming the New Jersey Gladiators to the HSBC Arena at 7:30 PM. Season and group tickets are on sale now. Call 881-4444 today!
