ALBUQUERQUE, N.M., Jan 29, 2009 - The Thunderbirds improved to a 12-12 record with their win over the Dakota Wizards Thursday, 109-106.

Leading Albuquerque was guard Will Conroy with 35 points and 8 assists. "The team was able to focus," said Conroy, "and make big shots throughout the night."

The first half remained close until the end of the second quarter when the T-birds pulled away. Going into the half, the Thunderbirds secured a 14 point lead, leading Dakota 60-46. The Wizards, now 15-11, managed to take a one point lead with less than three minutes to play but saw that lead diminish when Conroy nailed a floater for two.

The T-birds, who have won 10 of their last 12, out rebounded the Wiz 41-36.

Thunderbirds' forward David Noel added 25 points while grabbing 6 boards, helping Albuquerque clinch their 12th win of the season.

For their next home game, the Thunderbirds will sport the jerseys of their NBA affiliate, Miami Heat. On Friday, February 6th, the T-birds host the Reno Bighorns, who improved to 9-15 with a win over the Bakersfield Jam this past Saturday.
