
Alberth Martinez Named TL Player of the Week for August 3-9

San Antonio -The San Antonio Missions are proud to announce that outfielder Alberth Martinez was named Texas League Player of the Week for August 3-9.
In his seven games this past week, Martinez hit .483 (14-for-29) with three doubles, four homers, eight RBI and eight runs scored. For the week, Martinez led the TL in total bases (29) and was T-1st in hits, homers and extra-base hits (7). He was also 2nd in AVG, OBP (.531), SLG (1.000) and OPS (1.531) and T-2nd in runs scored.
Martinez began his week on August 3 vs. Corpus Christi with the first of three, three-hit performances. The 24-year-old outfielder's next three-hit effort occurred during San Antonio's 5-1 win at Frisco on August 7.
Martinez saved his best performance for Sunday's finale at Dr Pepper Ballpark, carrying the Missions to a series split with a 3-for-5, two-homer, four-RBI power show. The home run and RBI totals tied career highs. His other previous two-homer game came in July of 2011 while with the AZL Padres. Martinez's other four-RBI effort occurred in April of 2013 while with Class A Fort Wayne.
In 105 games this season for San Antonio, Martinez is batting .284 (108-for-380) with 16 doubles, three triples, nine homers, 47 RBI, 49 runs scored and six steals. Martinez is currently 2nd on the club in hits, T-2nd in runs scored and 3rd in doubles, homers and RBI.
