Albany Attack News Release
(Albany, NY)...The Albany Attack battle their Central Division rival the Rochester Knighthawks twice this weekend. The home-and-home series begins Saturday night in Rochester and ends in Albany Sunday afternoon. Last season, the two teams fought for the top spot in the division, with Albany winning the division title with a National Lacrosse League best 14-2 record. The 13-3 Knighthawks met the Attack in the 2002 NLL Semifinals and lost for only the second time in franchise history to their New York rival, 14-10. The Attack went on to the NLL Finals against the Toronto Rock.
This season, both teams find themselves in unfamiliar surroundings as they stand as the third and fourth place teams in the Central Division. Albany (2-3) sits third place a slim half-game behind the Knighthawks(2-2). Both franchises are chasing the Buffalo Bandits (4-1) and the Columbus Landsharks (5-1). The crucial two-game series begins Saturday, February 1st at The Blue Cross Arena at 7:35 p.m. Rochester leads the regular-season series with a 4-1 record. Last year, the Knighthawks defeated Albany both times they met. On Sunday, February 2nd, Rochester travels to Albany for a 4:00 p.m. game at the Pepsi Arena. The game will be broadcast on News Talk 950 WROC. The contest will end the regular-season series. In preparation for the two games, the Rochester Knighthawks will practice at 8:45 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28th at Sportsplex in North Tonawanda.
