Albany Attack News Release
(Albany, NY)... The Albany Attack are in a playoff battle involving 6 NLL teams, three of which form to make the remainder of the Attack's regular season schedule. The first key match up is this Friday in Colorado versus the leagues newest franchise, the Colorado Mammoth. When the Attack met the Mammoth for the first time in NLL play, Albany took charge to earn their first home win of the season, 19-15. The Attack takes to Colorado's Pepsi Center planning for a second victory in an effort to keep playoff aspirations alive.
Albany must go 2-for-2 against Colorado, sparking a new win streak lasting the remainder of the season. The Attack has proven they have what it takes to win, just ending a 4-game win streak. The threat remainsâcan Albany win at Colorado where the Mammoth are 5-2, coming off a win against New Jersey Sunday, and stop Gary Gait who is having a hot spell resulting in NLL Player of the Week honors for two consecutive weeks? The Attack sits fourth in Central Division standings with a 6-7 record; the Colorado Mammoth holds an identical record but sit second in Eastern Division standings.
Head Coach for Albany Attack, Bob McMahon, cannot afford to let his squad falter after taking a tough loss at Vancouver this past weekend. The Ravens ended Albany's win streak in an overtime thriller at General Motors Palace. This was the third overtime loss of the season for Albany. Vancouver has now won three straight games, improving their record to 6-6 placing them third in Northern Division standings. The Attack seek their vengeance on April 12th at Pepsi Arena as they take on the Ravens for their final game of regular season play; a game that could very well decide if Albany earns a chance to enjoy post-season play in pursuit of the Champions Cup.
National Lacrosse League action returns to Pepsi Arena April 4th at 7:30pm when the Attack faces the Philadelphia Wings. The Wings sit atop Eastern Division standings with an 8-6 record.
