Little Falls, NJ - The Albany-Colonie Diamond Dogs snapped the New Jersey Jackals four game winning streak, beating the Jackals, 8-4, Friday night at Yogi Berra Stadium.
The Diamond Dogs broke a scoreless tie in the 6th inning, driving a run across on a single by Carlos Sepulveda and adding two more on a base hit by Ryan Smith. Albany put the game away in the 9th inning with five runs. Vic Davila hit his league leading 18th homerun of the year, a three run shot.
Chris Begg (3-1) earned the win, pitching five shutout innings. He gave up three hits, walking six and striking out one.
Jeremy Callier (5-2) received the loss despite a solid outing. He pitched eight innings, giving up three unearned runs on eight hits. He struck out two and walked one.
Offensively for the Jackals, Billy Brown, Dave Kennedy and Craig Conway each collected two hits. Travis Bailey knocked his 15th homerun of the year, a two run shot, to stay three behind Davila for the league lead. Chas Terni's double in the 2nd inning brought his league-leading total to 34.
