CROMWELL, CT - With a little more than a week before puck drops for the 2014-15 season, the Albany Devils lost to the Hartford Wolf Pack, 3-1, in preseason action. The warmup contest was played Wednesday at Champions Skate Center in Cromwell, CT.

After an uneventful 37 minutes, the teams exchanged goals and a few punches. Paul Thompson opened the scoring at 17:23 of the second period. He was tripped from behind on a partial breakaway and awarded a penalty shot. One-on-one, Thompson went five hole on Hartford netminder Jeff Malcolm.

Just 16 seconds later, Andrew Yogan tied the game at 17:39.

In the third, the gloves came off. Four fights broke out within the first five minutes - Dan Kelly vs. Justin Vaive, Alexandre Carrier vs. Steve Spinell, Darcy Zajac vs. Shawn O'Donnell and Paul Thompson vs. Mikael Tam.

When things settled, Michael St. Croix gave Hartford at 2-1 advantage at the 9:45 mark.

Maxime Clermont went the distance in goal and made 26 of 28 saves. Malcolm earned the win with 21 of 22 saves.

Game Notes

- Paul Thompson has four goals in three games this training camp. He potted a goal against the Flyers in an AHL/rookie scrimmage last Tuesday and had two tallies against the Rangers in a similar exhibition.

- The Devils conclude their preseason schedule Saturday with a 7:05 pm against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms at PPL Center.
