
Akron doubles up the Sea Dogs 6-3

(Portland, Maine) - The Akron Aeros (33-33) scored the final four runs of the game and defeated the Portland Sea Dogs (34-31) 6-3 on Friday night at Hadlock Field in the first of a three-game series. The game featured a one hour and eight minute rain delay after the top of the seventh inning.
Brett Brach (4-2) tossed six innings on six hits, three runs, one walk and four strikeouts to beat the Sea Dogs for the second time this season.
Keith Couch (4-3) suffered the loss for Portland, giving up 10 hits, three runs (two earned) over 5.1 IP. Couch was making his second straight start against Akron.
Akron's bullpen fired three scoreless frames, with Jose Flores notching his seventh save of the season. Enosil Tejeda and Austin Adams each earned holds.
With the game tied at three, Akron took the lead for good in the seventh inning on Cedric Hunter's RBI single. The Aeros added a run in the eighth on Pete Ruiz's wild pitch, and Jesus Aguilar nailed a run-scoring double in the ninth. Aguilar leads the Eastern League with 52 RBI.
Akron jumped out to a 2-0 lead, scoring single runs in the third and fifth innings. Carlos Moncrief led off the second inning with a solo-homer to right-center off Couch. In the fifth, Hunter knocked home Jose Ramirez with a run-scoring single.
Portland grabbed a 3-2 lead with a three-spot in the fourth.
Christian Vazquez tied the game with a two-run single and Heiker Meneses delivered an RBI single to right. Akron tied the game in the fifth on Ronny Rodriguez's run-scoring single to left.
The Sea Dogs are 2-3 on the homestand and 5-8 during a 15-game stretch against the Western Division.

The Sea Dogs and Akron Aeros (Indians affiliate) continue their three-game weekend series on Saturday night with a 6:00 PM first pitch.
