AirHogs Win 3-2 in 10 Innings

Grand Prairie, TX (07.14.08) - Aaron Garza came up with a game winning RBI single in the bottom of the 10th inning to cap off a come-from-behind 3-2 victory on Monday night.

J.B. Tucker led off the bottom of the 10th with a double into the gap in left center field. The Sports intentionally walked Mike Conroy to put a force at third base. Aaron Garza came up to the dish, and bunted the first two pitches foul. Down 0-2, he hit a broken bat flare into short left field allowing Tucker to come in for the winning run.

With two outs in the top of the second, Alex Hale hit a homerun into the pool area in right field to give the Sports the early 1-0 lead.

Hale came up with another solo shot in his second at-bat in the top of the fourth, putting the Sports on top 2-0.

The homerun derby continued, but this time for Grand Prairie in the bottom of the fourth inning. Derek Nicholson hit a high towering two-run shot down the right field line off the foul pole, tying up the game at 2-2.

Nat Harris was the AirHogs starter and earned the no decision. He went 5.1 solid innings, allowing two earned runs off of four hits with three walks and two strikeouts. Vinnie DeChristofaro (4-1) notched the victory out of the bullpen. He went two innings, allowing no runs on no hits with five strikeouts and just one walk. In total, the AirHogs bullpen combined to pitch 4.2 innings of scoreless baseball.

Thad Markray had an impressive outing for Shreveport, but earned the no decision. He went eight strong innings, giving up just two earned runs on four hits with two walks and eight Ks. Matt Clayman ( 2-8) was the losing pitcher, he faced three batters in the bottom of the 10th, giving up one run on two hits.

Grand Prairie has now won eighth straight games at the friendly confines of QuikTrip Park.

The AirHogs continue their home stand with the second game of a three-game set with Shreveport on Tuesday. First pitch is set for 7:05 PM.
