AirHogs Take Cleburne Series with 6-1 Win

CLEBURNE, Texas - The Texas AirHogs won the three-game series vs. Cleburne on Wednesday, downing the Railroaders 6-1 in the rubber match series finale. Stewart Ijames and Na Chuang combined to reach seven times, and Tyler Matzek earned his first win in an AirHogs jersey.

Matzek (1-5) allowed just one run over five innings. He threw 105 pitches, scattering four hits and working around five walks. He struck out eight in earning the win.

The AirHogs got out to an early lead when Ijames led the game off with a single vs. Cleburne starter Dylan Mouzakes (1-3). He came home on a double by Dillon Thomas to make it 1-0.

Ijames keyed a two-out, two-run rally in the second, tripling home a run before scoring on a Cleburne error. Na Chuang would extend the lead to 4-1 in the fifth with an RBI double.

Zheng Chaoqun allowed a leadoff double in the sixth before setting the Railroaders aside for a scoreless inning. He returned for the seventh and issued two walks. Taylor Wright entered behind him and induced a key double play to help keep the lead intact. Wright would remain in for the duration of the game, picking up a scoreless appearance and his third save.

Correlle Prime highlighted a two-run ninth with a base hit RBI to tack an exclamation point on a great night for AirHog bats. Texas outhit Cleburne 11-6. AirHog pitchers struck out a total of 11 RailRoaders. Cleburne stranded a franchise-record 16 baserunners. The series win was the second of the season for the AirHogs.

Texas (11-31) will open a four-game, three-day series with a doubleheader tomorrow vs. the Kansas City T-Bones (27-16) in Grand Prairie. First pitch is slated for 6:05.
