Texas AirHogs News Release
GRAND PRAIRIE -- The St. Paul Saints downed the Texas AirHogs 10-0 Wednesday night at AirHogs Stadium. The AirHogs will continue their 6-game homestand vs. the Wichita Wingnuts, who come to town for a 3-game series starting tomorrow.
AirHogs starter Scott Firth was tagged for 8 runs in 3 innings by a Saint offense that entered play as 1 of just 3 teams in the American Association to score 100 this season. Roman Gomez replaced Firth and fired scoreless 4th and 5th innings before handing the ball to TJ Bozeman, Billy Waltrip and Josh Blanco to finish the game.
Saint starter Mark Hamburger twirled a complete game shutout, his 1st of the season, by holding the AirHogs to just 5 hits. Alvaro Rondon broke through with a single in his 2nd at-bat vs. Hamburger to extend his hitting streak to 3 after missing the team's series in Cleburne due to injury.
Josh Blanco fired a scoreless 9th inning and has now held opponents scoreless in 5 of 6 appearances this season, including 4 straight.
Saints right fielder Danny Oh finished the contest 2 for 4 and scored 3 of the team's 10 runs in the game. Breland Almadova and Nate Hanson each finished with 2 RBIs. Every spot in the Saints' order reached at least once. Their 10 runs were their 2nd highest output of the season.
The loss was the 11th in a row for the AirHogs. Firth suffered his 3rd loss, while Hamburger picked up his 3rd win.
The AirHogs (4-15) will welcome Wichita (12-8) to Grand Prairie starting tomorrow. The AirHogs took 2 of 3 from the Wingnuts May 22-24. LHP Michael Freeman (0-1, 1.58 ERA) is expected to start for Texas vs. RHP Alex Boshers (3-1, 3.90 ERA) for Wichita. 1st pitch is slated for 7:05 pm.
