Texas AirHogs News Release
CLEBURNE, Texas -- The Texas AirHogs suffered the series sweep Sunday at The Depot in Cleburne, dropping the 3rd and final game of their set with the Railroaders 4-1. Levi Scott hit his 1st home run of the season in the loss. The team will open a 6-game homestand vs. St. Paul and Wichita starting tomorrow.
James Russell got the start for the AirHogs and held the Railroaders scoreless for the 1st 5 innings. Cleburne starter Patrick Mincey allowed just 2 hits over 6 frames. 1 of them was Scott's solo blast with 2 outs in the 4th to put the AirHogs up 1-0.
The Railroaders erased the lead in the 6th. Maikol Gonzalez led the inning off with a bunt single. The next batter Devan Ahart drove him home with a triple. Ahart himself would cross on a base hit by Geraldo Valentin, who finished with 2 RBIs. A phenomenal throw by Cameron Monger later in the inning caught Valentin at the plate trying to score on a single by Brandon Tierney.
Following Scott's home run, Mincey held the team off the basepaths. Harrison Lee and Winston Abreu combined to twirl 3 shutout frames from the 7th through the 9th. Cleburne tagged AirHogs reliever Billy Waltrip for 2 runs on 2 hits, a wild pitch and a sacrifice in the 8th to put the game out of reach. Mincey picked up his 3rd win of the year while Russell suffered his 1st loss.
The AirHogs return home to AirHogs Stadium for the 1st time since May 24th Monday to take on St. Paul. RHP Tyler Bremer (1-0, 1.03 ERA) is expected to start for Texas vs. RHP Ryan Zimmerman (1-0, 1.50 ERA) for the Saints. 1st pitch is slated for 7:05 pm. A live broadcast will be available at mixlr.com/TXAirHogs.
