
AirHogs Drop First Game to Lemurs

Laredo- Coming off a sweep of the Amarillo Sox, the Grand Prairie AirHogs (41-36) dropped a close one 5-4 in extra innings Thursday night at Uni-Trade Stadium. Three of the AirHogs last four games have gone to extra innings with this one going 12 innings. Most of the runs for the AirHogs came in the first inning off of Palmer Karr's sixth home run for the AirHogs this year. Karr drove in three on his homer and went 1-for-4 in the game. Brandon Pinckney also went 1-for-4 scoring on Karr's blast. Brian Myrow went 1-for-1 and scored in the first as well. Rian Kiniry batted in the other run for the AirHogs in the sixth inning.
Jared Mortensen had a strong performance going seven innings allowing three runs on six hits. He left with a no decision and struck out two Lemurs. Chase Johnson gave up one more run on two hits in the eighth tying it up and sending the game to extra innings. Jakob Cunningham, Boomer Potts and Stephen Nikonchik combined for two innings of scoreless baseball. David Quinowski received the loss allowing one run on one hit in the bottom of the 12th.
With the loss the AirHogs fall behind Laredo a game and a half in the South Division race. They hope to gain some ground with three more games to go in the series. Game 2 will begin Friday night at 7:30 P.M. at Uni-Trade Stadium.
