Justin Papineau and Aris Brimanis scored power play goals to cap a three-goal third period and allow Worcester to tie Hartford on Friday night, 3-3. Papineau's tally was his league-leading 15th of the season, and former Wolf Pack members Jason Dawe and Terry Virtue assisted on Brimanis's equalizer with 7:32 remaining. Brent Johnson stopped 32 shots for the IceCats in the first game of a conditioning stint.
Chris Hartsburg scored at 3:42 of overtime to give Albany a 4-3 win over Manchester at the Pepsi Arena on Friday. The River Rats came back from a 2-1 deficit to take the lead, but Pavel Rosa's goal with 22 seconds left in regulation forced the OT period. Greg Crozier netted his first goal since joining Albany, and Scott Cameron scored on a penalty shot at the end of the second period.
Ross Lupaschuk scored twice and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton withstood a late rally to defeat Houston on Friday, 6-5. The Penguins raced to a 5-0 lead early in the second period before holding on, as the Aeros scored five times in the final 21 minutes of the game. Toby Petersen, Matt Murley, Eric Meloche and Tom Kostopoulos also scored for Wilkes-Barre, and Rob Tallas made 40 saves in net.
Joe Murphy broke a scoreless tie with 1:04 left in regulation as Binghamton finished a two-game weekend sweep at Harbour Station with a 2-0 win over Saint John on Saturday. Murphy's goal, set up by Jason Spezza and Chris Kelly, made a winner out of rookie Ray Emery, whose 31 saves were good for his third shutout of the season. Steve Martins capped the scoring with an empty-net goal at 19:38.
Milwaukee inched closer to the top of the standings with a 2-1 win over Houston at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minn., on Sunday. Cameron Mann and Greg Classen scored in the game's opening 7:07, and Chris Madden did the rest, making 28 saves to earn his second win of the season. The Admirals now trail the Aeros by just four points atop the West Division.
