The American Hockey League's Board of Governors today unanimously approved the sale of the Milwaukee Admirals to a group of investors led by Milwaukee businessman Harris Turer from the estate of Jane Pettit.
Turer, 39, is the President of Hometown Property Management, Inc., a Milwaukee property management company. He will be the Managing Member and principal shareholder in the new Milwaukee Admirals, LLC. The approval came at the annual Spring Meeting of the AHL Board of Governors in Springfield, MA.
"We are very excited to continue the process of acquiring the Admirals," said Turer. "We are committed to the Milwaukee Community and will continue to bring an affordable and entertaining product to our fans when they visit the Bradley Center."
Other members of Milwaukee Admirals, LLC are: Mark Attanasio, Group Managing Director at the Trust Company of the West and Principal Owner of the Milwaukee Brewers Baseball Club; Fran Croak, Executor of the Estate of Jane Pettit; Gord Ash, Milwaukee Brewers Assistant General Manager; Curt Culver, Chairman and CEO of MGIC Investment Corporation; Peter Epperson, Owner of Missing Links and Brookfield Hills golf courses; Ric Gebhardt, President and CEO of Injectec; Todd Krieg, Partner and Owner, Reinhart & Mahoney; Wayne Lueders, Partner and Chairman of Sports Industry Law Group at Foley & Lardner and Jay Williams, Chairman and Owner of The PrivateBank.
In addition, Turer has tabbed Jon Greenberg to serve as president of the team. Greenberg, who is also part of the ownership group, comes to the Admirals after 20 years with the Milwaukee Brewers, including the last ten as media relations director.
Jane and Lloyd Pettit originally purchased the Admirals from Bill Chimo in December, 1976. In the summer of 1977, they purchased an International Hockey League franchise and the team then moved to the American Hockey League in 2001.
