February 7, 2014 - Arena Football League (AFL) News Release

CHICAGO - Arena Football League fans can help their team bring home the gold this year, as the AFL will host the first-ever "AFLympics", the League office announced today.

Beginning on Monday, February 10, all 14 AFL teams will compete in a ten-day social media contest during the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Each day at 12:00 p.m. ET, AFL teams will use the hashtag #AFLympics to share a photo on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram feeds that best represents their franchise, city and fans in the "event" of the day. The team with the highest cumulative total of likes and retweets will receive the gold medal for that day, with the second and third place finishers receiving the silver and bronze, respectively. At the conclusion of the contest, the League office will announce the winners of the entire AFLympics, based on a medal count.
