Breakin' Records...The 2002 season has truly been a record breaker for the Akron Aeros...The following is a list of team records set this season: most wins (93), most home wins (51), most road wins (42), lowest team ERA (3.09), most shutouts (20), fewest runs allowed (492), fewest wild pitches (47), most home runs hit (150), most doubles hit (283)...The pitching staff equaled the franchise record for most strikeouts in a season (1020, also done in 1996).

Where They Finished...Akron finished the year with a 93-48 record, 14.5 games ahead of second-place Harrisburg...Akron took hold of first place on May 7 and never relinquished it.

How They Finished...The Aeros ended the 2002 regular season on a high note, winning five in a row and 12 of their last 14.

Slick Fielding...The Aeros did not commit an error over their last seven games of the season and made just one error over their final 11 games.

Sweep, Sweep...The Aeros swept the Eastern League Player and Pitcher of the Week honors for the final week of the season, as OF JASON FITZGERALD was named E.L. Player of the Week and RHP KYLE DENNEY was named E.L. Pitcher of the Week for the week ending September 2....Fitzgerald hit .464 (13-28) with 6 R, 3 2B, 2 HR, 9 RBI & 1 SB from August 26-September 2, while Denney was 1-0 with a 0.00 ERA over that same time span (2 GS, 10.0 IP, 5 H, 2 BB, 9 SO).

MVP, MVP...C VICTOR MARTINEZ won the Eastern League batting title (.336)...He also led the league in slugging % (.576), on-base % (.417) and runs scored (84), he finished second in doubles (40) and extra-base hits (62), and he finished tied for second in home runs (22).

Double Vision...C VICTOR MARTINEZ set a new franchise record for most doubles in a season with 40.

Leader Board...The following players were amongst the Eastern League leaders: NATE GRINDELL finished tied for second in triples (8), SCOTT PRATT finished tied for fourth in runs scored (81), BILLY TRABER finished tied for third in wins (13) and first in shutouts (2).

Tonight's Starter...Over his last five starts, RHP JASON DAVIS is 5-0 with a 1.17 ERA (30.2 IP, 27 H, 4 R/ER, 9 BB, 28 SO)...His last loss came back on July 29 @ Altoona...Versus Harrisburg this season, he is 0-0 with a 9.00 ERA (5.0 IP, 7 H, 5 R/ER, 2 BB, 7 SO) in one start, August 3 @ Harrisburg.

The 90's...Since 1990, three teams have surpassed the 90 win mark.: AKRON (2002, 93), Harrisburg (1993, 94 wins) & Trenton (1999, 92 wins).

Who's Hot...RHP KYLE DENNEY is 2-0 with a 0.60 ERA over his last three starts (15.0 IP, 8 BB, 1 R/ER, 3 BB, 18 SO)...RHP FERNANDO CABRERA is 1-0 and has not allowed a run in his last four appearances, which includes one start (12.0 IP, 4 R, 3 BB, 15 SO)...Over his last eight appearances, RHP RYAN LARSON is 0-0 with one save & a 2.00 ERA (9.0 IP, 5 H, 3 R, 2 ER, 1 BB, 10 SO)...OF RYAN CHURCH currently has a five-game hitting streak, batting .455 (10-22) with 5 R, 3 2B, 2 3B & 5 RBI...Over his last nine games, 3B COREY ERICKSON is batting .361 (13-36) with 7 R, 4 2B, 3 HR & 9 RBI...OF JASON FITZGERALD currently has a five-game hitting streak, batting .545 (12-22) with 6 R, 3 2B, 2 HR, 8 RBI & SB over that span.

Top of the Charts...As a team, the Aeros pitching staff led the Eastern League in: ERA (3.09), fewest hits allowed (1097), strikeouts (1020) and shutouts (20)...Offensively, the Aeros led the E.L. in home runs (150), runs scored (734) and at-bats (4803)...They finished second in team batting average (.272).

Great Month...The Aeros won 22 games in the month of June, setting a new franchise record...The previous record was 21, done in June of 1998.

Winning Streak...The Aeros had a franchise record 11-game winning streak from June 4 (Game 2) to June 14.
