Waterloo Black Hawks News Release

A disputed goal late in Saturday's game set up an even more dramatic score to push the Waterloo Black Hawks past the Indiana Ice 4-3 at Pepsi Coliseum.

With 5:46 remaining, Indiana's Woody Hudson shoveled a chance under Jay Williams and was credited with the tying goal, in spite of the Hawks' contention that the puck never crossed the goal line. Both sides had opportunities to break the deadlock in the ensuring minutes, but it wasn't until 19:55 that the Black Hawks nudged back in front. Tony Cameranesi's wrap-around try led to bedlam around the Indiana net before and after the puck found Joe Rehkamp, who wristed in his second score of the game.

Just 38 seconds into the period, the Ice had tied the game at 2-2 with a power play score by Jacob Fallon capping a three-on-two rush. Waterloo pushed back ahead at 13:15 with Josh Nanadal's first USHL goal, scored from the edge of the crease. After the sides had combined for just 21 shots on goal in the first 40 minutes, Waterloo had 19 chances in the third to 16 for Indiana.

The Ice generated just one shot from two power plays during the first five minutes of Saturday's game, but Waterloo struck for the opening goal. Rehkamp recorded the score during the Hawks' road trip when - camped at the side of the net - he received a cross-ice feed from Cameranesi and fired it in at 15:37 of the first period.
