Springfield Armor News Release
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The NBA D-League announced Monday afternoon that forward Adonis Thomas of the Springfield Armor, presented by MGM Springfield, has been selected to participate in the 2014 NBA D-League Dream Factory, presented by Boost Mobile as a part of the NBA D-League Boost Mobile Three-Point Contest.
"This is a great opportunity for me to represent not only myself but also the Armor and the city of Springfield at this league-wide event," said Adonis Thomas. "I am looking forward to showcasing how hard I've worked at my long-range shooting and also competing against some of the NBA D-League's top players."
Thomas enters Monday's game shooting a team-leading 46.9 percent (30-for-64) from beyond the arc this season, ranking seventh among NBA D-League opponents. A Memphis product, Thomas becomes the third Springfield Armor player to participate in the three-point competition, joining Scottie Reynolds (2011) and Morris Almond (2010). Neither Reynolds nor Almond advanced past the first round.
"It's an honor to have Adonis represent the Springfield Armor organization at this year's NBA D-League All-Star game, presented by Boost Mobile," said Armor president Alex Schwerin. "We wish Adonis the best of luck and are extremely proud of his accomplishments both on and off the court this season."
Over two seasons with the Memphis Tigers, Thomas shot a combined 32.5 percent from three-point land, but shot a career-high 40.5 percent his freshman season (2011-12). Thomas was signed by the Brooklyn Nets on October 18, 2013 and allocated to the Springfield Armor as an affiliate player.
The 2014 NBA D-League Boost Mobile Three-Point Contest will begin at 2:30 p.m. EST on Saturday, February 15 at Sprint Arena inside NBA All-Star Jam Session at New Orleans Ernest N. Morial Convention Center.
After the Armor take on the Bakersfield Jam tonight at 7:00 p.m. inside the MassMutual Center, Springfield will complete its four-game, five-day stretch with a 7:00 p.m. tip against the Maine Red Claws, NBA D-League affiliate of the Boston Celtics tomorrow night.
