Admirals sign goaltender Marvin Cüpper to ATO

NORFOLK, Va. - The Norfolk Admirals announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has agreed to terms with goaltender Marvin Cüpper on an amateur tryout contract (ATO).

Cüpper, 21, is out of Köln, Germany and the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) where he played three seasons for the Shawinigan Cataractes. The 5-foot-10, 170-pounder exits the junior ranks with a 63-70-11 record, 3.23 goals-against average (GAA), and .905 save percentage (SV%). Cüpper improved each season with Shawinigan and is coming off the best campaign of his junior career, one in which he recorded a 2.80 GAA and .912 SV% through 59 games. The 2014-15 QMJHL First All-Star Team member finished the year with the best SV% in the league, second in wins (36), second in minutes (3486:57), and third in GAA.
