Milwaukee Admirals News Release

Milwaukee, WI--Triston Grant scored two goals and the Admirals tallied the four unanswered to take a 4-2 win over the Rockford IceHogs on Thursday night at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.

It was Grant's first multi-goal game in nearly four seasons and the fifth of his career. His last two-goal effort came on October 15, 2011 when he was with Oklahoma City in a 10-1 win over Texas.

The win was also the first time since November 21 and 22 that Milwaukee had won back-to-back games.

Rockford took an early 1-0 lead early in the first on an unassisted power-play goal by Phillip Danault at 9:08 into the game.

Just over three minutes later T.J. Brennan gave the Hogs a 2-0 lead from almost the exact same spot on the ice. A loose puck in the high slot trickled out to right of Ads goalie Marek Mazanec and Brennan was the first to it. He fired a wrister that beat Mazanec high glove side at 12:15.

A heady play by Ads forward Mark Van Guilder helped get them on the board with 2:16 left in the first period. Milwaukee defenseman Taylor Aronson held the puck on the Rockford blueline and fired a shot that hit a prone Van Guilder in the head. The loose puck was picked up by Viktor Arvidsson, who fed Grant alone in front of the IceHogs net and he lifted the puck over the right pad of Scott Darling for his second of the season.

Grant got his second of the night at the 5:51 mark of the second period. Aronson started the play with a wrister that Darling stopped, however Grant was stationed in front and cleaned the rebound to tie the game at two.

Persistence paid off for the Admirals on their second power-play of the night and it resulted in a 3-2 lead. Arvidsson had hit the post with two shots during the man advantage and it looked like the penalty would expire. However, with one second left Richard Clune chipped the puck from behind the Milwaukee net out to Austin Watson, who slid the puck five-hole for his lucky 13th of the season with 5:19 to play in the second.

Less than a minute later Zach Budish scored for the second consecutive game to push the Admirals lead to 4-2 and chase Darling from the Rockford goal.

Mazanec and the Admirals held off the Rockford attack in the third period, giving the Ads the win.

The Admirals and Hogs finish off their home-and-home set tomorrow night in Rockford at 7 before returning home on Saturday night at 7 pm against the Charlotte Checkers.
