Norfolk Admirals News Release
NORFOLK, VA. - The Norfolk Admirals, proud ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers, announced the signing of forwards Paul Rodrigues and Devin Mantha on Thursday, per head coach Rod Aldoff.
Rodrigues, 27, is coming off of his best ECHL season, recording 25 points in 39 games with the South Carolina Stingrays. His tour of South Carolina was his second, spending 40 games with the team in 2013-14 as well, which was followed by a year with the Greenville Road Warriors.
"I thought Paul was tremendous last year. He continued his upward trend in the playoffs with me in Pensacola (10 points in seven games) and I do believe with his skill level he can compete here with us this season," his former and now once again current bench boss said.
Aldoff additionally proclaimed the signing and return of Devin Mantha. Mantha joined the Admirals at the turn of the calendar year last season and recorded five points and five assists in 26 contests. After quickly emerging as a fan favorite, he too went on to return to the SPHL for the playoffs, recording over a point-per-game for the Mississippi RiverKings.
"Devin got some experience here last year and I thought he played well, well enough to get another shot at this level for certain. His size and speed are good and I want him to really push the pace of our team this year," Aldoff said of the 6'1" - 190 lbs. Mantha.
"We're looking at both of these guys to come in and compete. I feel comfortable with both of them at center and look forward to seeing them play here."
The Admirals begin the 2016-17 season on Friday, October 14th against the Kalamazoo Wings at the Norfolk Scope. Season tickets, ten packs, and opening night packages are on sale now and can be purchased by calling 757-640-1212.
