Adirondack Phantoms News Release

GLENS FALLS, NY - The Adirondack Phantoms, proud AHL affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, unveiled their special rivalry jerseys that the team will wear during their twelve Time Warner Cable Cup games against the Albany River Rats. During the team's unveiling Glens Falls Mayor Jack Diamond challenged Albany's mayor to a friendly wager.

Joined by members of the media on the ice at the Glens Falls Civic Center Tuesday afternoon, Phantoms Captain Jared Ross and right wing David Laliberte were on hand to officially unveil Adirondack's new rivalry jersey. However, blocking the two forwards' path to the brand new jerseys was a banner stretched across the goal bearing an Albany River Rats logo. Not to be deterred by their rival, Ross & Laliberte bombarded the Rats banner pucks, sending fierce slap shots at the net.

After the logo had been destroyed they reached in the net and pulled out the special jerseys to present the Phantoms' newest game sweater.

During the festivities Glens Falls Mayor Jack Diamond addressed the media and issued a friendly wager challenge to Albany Major Jerry Jennings, tying the two civic leaders into the Time Warner Cable Cup.

The Challenge: The losing Mayor of the series must take the winning Mayor out to lunch at a restaurant in the winning team's city.

Throughout the entire event, the losing Mayor must wear the winning team's jersey.

Mayor Diamond then took his challenge one step further, adding that the losing Mayor will be invited up to the winning team's 2010-2011 Home Opener to participate in a ceremonial puck drop wearing the winning team's jersey.

The Time Warner Cable Cup will be presented annually to the winner of the season series (winning the most of the twelve head-to-head games) between Adirondack and Albany and will be displayed at the team's home facility until the rivalry is renewed the following season.
