Spokane Chiefs News Release
Spokane, Wash. - Spokane Chiefs forward Adam Beckman has been named McSweeney's WHL Player of the Month for December 2019, as announced by the league on Thursday, after posting 15 goals and five assists for 20 points in 11 games, earning a plus-eight rating and helping the Chiefs to a 7-2-1-1 record.
The month actually started slow for the Minnesota Wild prospect (2019 3rd round), with no points through the first two games. From there, it was the Adam Beckman Show, as the sharp-shooting winger picked up six multi-point games and four multi-goal games, including two hat tricks.
He scored the Chiefs' annual Teddy Bear Toss goal on Dec. 7, potting his 14th of the season just 41 seconds into regulation to send 8,604 stuffed animals flying at Spokane Arena. The goal was the beginning of a current nine-game goal streak, tying a Spokane franchise record set five times previously -- most recently by Jaret Anderson-Dolan (2018-19) and Adam Helewka (2014-15). He looks to set a new club mark on Friday night versus the Portland Winterhawks.
Beckman's most prolific performance came on Dec. 14 at Seattle, as he picked up his second career hat trick and added two assists to match a career-best five points in a 5-2 win. He earned WHL Player of the Week honors that week after tallying six goals and three assists in three games.
A trip home to Saskatoon for the mid-season holiday break did not cool Beckman off, as he returned from the time off with five goals and an assist in the Chiefs' first three games back, including his second hat trick of the month in a 5-3 win over the rival Tri-City Americans in front of a sold out crowd at Spokane Arena on Dec. 28.
Beckman is the first Chief to earn the monthly award since Mitch Holmberg in September/October 2013.

Beckman and the Chiefs return to action on Friday, January 3 when they host the Portland Winterhawks at Spokane Arena. It will be Fred Meyer Calendar Giveaway, with the first 3,000 fans through the gates receiving a Spokane Chiefs wall calendar courtesy of Fred Meyer.
